The Early Lab at
ThinkerStudio
A Preschool Atelier for Ages 3–5
The Program
The Early Lab is a nurturing, high-sensory environment designed for our youngest thinkers. Following the Atelier (Studio) model, we view preschool not as "childcare," but as a child’s first experience with research, expression, and community. We focus on fostering independence, curiosity, and the social-emotional fluency needed for a lifetime of learning.
We offer two schedules to support the needs of our families:
Regular Day (9:00 AM – 2:00 PM): $12,000 / year
A robust morning immersion focused on Atelier research, social connection, and outdoor exploration.
Extended Day (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM): $14,500 / year
A full-immersion experience that aligns with our K–8 Day School hours for a seamless family schedule.
A Note on Flexibility: While the Early Lab is designed as a full-week immersion program, we understand that every family has different needs. If enrollment permits, we strive to be flexible with part-time schedules. If you are interested in a modified weekly schedule for your child, please reach out to us directly to discuss availability and how we can best support your family's needs.
Annual Registration: A one-time annual registration fee of $75 is due upon enrollment to secure your student's place in their cohort.
The Village Connection
All Early Lab families are invited to stay connected to the studio through our 40-hour annual service commitment. Whether it’s helping prepare materials for the Atelier or participating in community events, your presence helps make our village whole.
Schedule & Enrollment Options
In the Early Lab, we believe the physical space is just as important as the instructors. Our Atelier is intentionally designed to provoke curiosity and encourage independent discovery.
The Hundred Languages: We provide children with a vast array of materials—clay, paint, light, loose parts, and natural elements—to help them express their ideas and findings.
Fluidity of Play: Children are encouraged to move between "provocations" (learning stations) that allow them to explore the world at their own pace.
Village Connection: While the Early Lab is a dedicated space, our preschoolers are part of the larger ThinkerStudio village, benefiting from a shared culture of making and thinking.
The 8-Week Rhythm
Like our older cohorts, the Early Lab operates on 8-week cycles.
Cycle Discovery: Each cycle focuses on a broad "Provocation" or theme that the children explore through various mediums.
Visible Thinking: At the end of each cycle, we document and share the "learning stories" of the children, making their intellectual and creative growth visible to parents.
Studio Reset: Every 8th week, our Artisans reset the Atelier with new materials and challenges for the upcoming cycle.
The Environment as the Third Teacher
Location & Admissions Process
We are currently in the final stages of vetting facility options. Our priority is securing a space that serves as an inspiring home for our "Campus without Walls" model.
Location Update: A final facility decision will be announced in May 2026.
Admissions: We are now accepting Admissions applications. Submitting your application secures your place in the queue for our limited cohort spots and ensures you receive the official enrollment packet first once the facility is announced.
Joyful Discovery.
Academic Rigor. One School.
From the garden to the markerspace, we are redesigning school to be a place of active discovery. Your child becomes the driver of their own education.
